Nick Omiccioli, presenter

Building upon his previous Forum Series, Faster, Louder: When Heavy Metal and Classical Music Collide, Dr. Nick discusses his methodology in constructing experimental works utilizing guided and structured improvisation. Influenced by his background as an electric guitarist, Dr. Nick takes concepts related to how rock guitarists practice and applies them to compositional techniques in his recent aleatoric music. The works presented will include GRINDCORE (2015) for amplified string trio, the field well (2017) for chamber winds, and a live performance of Haunted Seas (2018) for soprano and string quartet.
