We have received this open call from Singapore’s National Arts Council (NAC) about this wonderful opportunity. If you are keen to penetrate the international classical music market, do grab this opportunity! Henceforth:

CLASSICAL:NEXT 2019 FELLOWSHIP – Call for Singapore Applications

Classical:NEXT is an international industry meeting for the classical music sector. Delegates at this industry platform include classical music labels, publishers, festival directors, and ensemble representatives. Artist attendees have the opportunity to pitch their work to potential buyers and become part of informal industry networks. The 2018 edition was attended by 1,300 industry professionals representing 750 companies from 48 countries around the world.

The National Arts Council (NAC) is pleased to support up to 3 composers, conductors and musicians from Singapore to attend the upcoming Classical:NEXT Conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from 15 to 18 May 2019. In order to maximise the impact of attendance, NAC has tied up with the conference organisers to offer a Fellowship programme to the selected music professionals from Singapore.

Each selected Singapore Fellow will be paired with a “Classical:NEXT insider” who will offer tips and suggestions on how to network successfully and help to make connections at the Conference. The fellowship programme includes pre-conference meetings and workshops, as well as a sit-down session with their assigned “insider.” The Singapore Fellows will also be represented online at the year-round contact platform C:N NET. More information online from: www.classicalnext.com/program/fellowships

Applicants for the fellowship programme are expected to fulfil the following criteria:

  1. Practising music professionals;
  2. Singapore citizens and permanent residents;
  3. At a relatively early stage of their careers (e.g. aged 35 and below or in their first five years as full-time/professional musicians); and
  4. Demonstrate a track record of artistic achievements and contributions to the music sector in Singapore (e.g. leading initiatives to benefit other musicians, sharing knowledge with others, working in and/or with communities etc.).

To apply, please download the application form from NAC website at https://www.nac.gov.sg/singaporeartsscene/music/Classical-NEXT-2019.html and submit your completed applications by 15 January 2019.

Please feel free to email carolyn_chiam@nac.gov.sg or kristen_chan@nac.gov.sg if you have questions.

With all good wishes,
