From 27 October to 29 October 2023, weird aftertaste offers you everything from gently evolving soundscapes to experimental noise; minimalist scores to maximal sonic assaults; wistful soliloquies to Fluxus epics; bizarre game-pieces to cross-disciplinary explorations, as well as several world premieres of new works by local composers.

WAparty confronts our penchant for excess by celebrating its byproduct – WASTE. Throughout a weekend of music, we recognise our harmful greed and ponder the risks of overabundance. We admit to turning ourselves into commodities and losing our true selves in modern life. Amidst pointless conflicts and divisive social tensions, we acknowledge avoidable harm, celebrate human strength and resistance, and invite you on this thought-invoking journey with us.

Anticipate captivating performances including György Ligeti’s monumental Poème symphonique, Michael Pisaro’s ecologically minded Ricefall, Frederic Rzewski’s politically charged Coming Together, a breathtaking world premiere by Joyce Koh and many other wildly eclectic contemporary music.

This concert series features many local composers, including: Joyce Koh, Chung Shih, Bertram Wee, Joan Tan (recent graduate of YST), Estene Cheong (current student in YST), Abdul Hakiim (current student in YST), Christoven Tan, and Daniel Yiau.

Adult tickets are priced at S$25 with student tickets going for S$12.50.
