In the spirit of the centenary of the Bauhaus, an influential German movement which focused on minimalism and functionality, \u201cModern Resonance\u201d pays tribute to the hardware and software of a power station \u2013 its utilitarian principles and generations of workers. Join Singaporean artists Li-Chuan Chong, Deborah Emmanuel and Alecia Neo as they reawaken Pasir Panjang Power Station with music and artistic appropriation in the form of a performance. \u201cModern: Resonance\u201d invites you to explore this modernist building in a way that illuminates its architecture and history.<\/p>\n<h4>Useful Information<\/h4>\n<p>This is an indoor event and there will be no amenities such as washroom or F&amp;B on site, so come prepared! (We\u2019re not kidding, the nearest washroom is 10 mins away and relieving yourself by the shore won\u2019t be ideal.)<\/p>\n<p>No parking within compound. Limited parking along Pasir Panjang Road.<\/p>\n<p>Nearest MRT: Labrador Park MRT<\/p>\n<h4>ARTISTS<\/h4>\n<p>Chong Li-Chuan is a Singaporean composer with a keen interest in philosophy, art and society, design and culture. As a practitioner, Li-Chuan makes music composition, sound art, site-specific and collaborative work incorporating music and sound. Li-Chuan\u2019s career started in the late \u201890s, freelancing as a composer and sound designer in collaboration with practitioners in theatre, dance, visual arts, and architecture.<\/p>\n<p>Deborah Emmanuel is a Singaporean poet, performer and professional speaker. She has written When I Giggle In My Sleep (2015), Rebel Rites (2016) and Genesis Visual Poetry Collection (2018). When not writing, Deborah tours internationally, makes theatre pieces, plays music, creates movement work and meditates.<\/p>\n<p>Working primarily with photography, video and participatory workshops, Alecia Neo develops long-term projects involving a variety of individuals and collaborators, overlooked communities and their spaces. She is also an Artist Lead with Brack, a trans-border arts platform for socially engaged artists. She was awarded the Young Artist Award in 2016.<\/p>\n<h4>Curator<\/h4>\n<p>Yeow Kai Chai is a poet, prose writer, editor and former journalist. He has been working in the media for more than two decades as writer and editor as well as music reviewer for 8 Days, The Straits Times and My Paper.
