Esplanade Concert Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n 2 Nov 2019 (Sa)<\/strong> Tickets at SGD35, SGD55 (Limited concession for students, NSFs and seniors: SGD25)<\/strong><\/p>\n ** Performed by London Sinfonietta together with OpusNovus<\/p>\n \u201cThe Sinfonietta blended rigour with the expressive depth in Hans Abrahamsen\u2019s Schnee<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> From the delicacy of a single snowflake, whispering as it falls from the sky, to vast, impenetrable snowdrifts and snow-laden landscapes\u2014the London Sinfonietta returns to the Esplanade Concert Hall with the Singapore premiere of Hans Abrahamsen\u2019s monumental and ethereal masterpiece, Schnee<\/em>.<\/p>\n The ensemble will also present the late Oliver Knussen\u2019s inventive Songs Without Voices<\/em> as a tribute to the esteemed composer-conductor, as well as Singapore composer Diana Soh\u2019s Modicum<\/em>, which will be performed together with Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music\u2019s OpusNovus.<\/p>\n The London Sinfonietta is one of the world\u2019s finest contemporary music ensembles with a reputation built on cutting-edge programming and virtuosic performances. Founded in 1968, the ensemble has commissioned nearly 400 new works, and premiered many hundreds more.<\/p>\n Resident at Southbank Centre and Artistic Associates at Kings Place, with a busy touring schedule across the UK and abroad, its core is 16 Principal Players, representing some of the best solo and ensemble musicians in the world. Having held a world-leading position in education and participation work for many years, the London Sinfonietta continues this with a belief that arts participation is transformational to individuals and communities, and new music is relevant to people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n OpusNovus is a versatile contemporary music ensemble composed of musicians from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS. Its programmes often feature works by internationally renowned composers, and lesser-known gems of the contemporary repertoire. OpusNovus also seeks to promote music by composers based in Singapore and around the region, as well as works by conservatory students, faculty and alumni.<\/p>\n The ensemble has collaborated with guest artists and ensembles such as Steven Schick, Ensemble Multilaterale, Trio Surplus, Ensemble Modern, and Wu Xian. OpusNovus is a resident ensemble for the Conservatory\u2019s annual Young Composer\u2019s Academy.<\/p>\n This concert is presented with support from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.<\/p>\n
