TANOWITZ\u2019s new work marks the first showing of her work in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>The evening opens on a meditative note with <strong>William WALTON\u2019s <em>Passacaglia<\/em><\/strong> for Cello, performed by NG Pei-Sian, SSO\u2019s Principal cellist and The HEAD Foundation Chair, along with dancer Chihiro UCHIDA. The evening builds up to a crescendo with <strong>Henry COWELL\u2019s <em>Variations on Thirds<\/em><\/strong>, featuring a string ensemble and six dancers.<\/p>\n<p>In the performance\u2019s effervescent finale, expect a brand-new piece, <em><strong>The Light Behind Us<\/strong><\/em>, by <strong>local jazz pianist and composer, CHOK Kerong<\/strong>, matched by fresh choreography by Christina CHAN and a dazzling ensemble of musicians and dancers (as far as safe management measure will allow!).<\/p>\n<p>A testament to hope and the indomitable spirit of the arts, The Rhythm of Us is an unprecedented treasure by two of Singapore\u2019s most celebrated arts companies and a rare treat for these challenging times.<\/p>\n<p><em>This event is part of SIFA 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sifa.sg\/programmes\/music\/the-rhythm-of-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BUY TICKETS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*This concert has been modified to be presented digitally in view of the current COVID-19 situation.
