11-12 Mar 2022 (F-Sa)<\/strong><\/p>\n Singapore Conference Hall & Online<\/strong><\/p>\n Under the guidance of SCO\u2019s Music Director and Composer-in-Residence, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) Composer Workshop offers a stimulating platform for aspiring young composers to gain theoretical and practical experience scoring for the Chinese orchestra.<\/p>\n The workshop begins with seminars on the characteristics and techniques of Chinese musical instruments, as well as composition and orchestration skills. Participants will have the opportunity to consult with the Composer-in-Residence about their drafts. This seminar discusses Singaporean Chinese identity and introduces the traditional musical genres of the above dialect groups. Drawing on his new composition Lion City Rhapsody as a case study, the speaker demonstrates how such musical elements can be integrated into Chinese orchestral composition and present a unique Nanyang musical style.
