We are excited to announce that applications for the <\/span>Young Composers Forum 2025 (YCF) <\/strong>will open on 27th July 2025!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Under the tutelage of four senior composer mentors, Alicia De Silva, Bertram Wee, Danny Imson, and Dr. Robert Casteels<\/strong>, as well as SYC Artistic Director Jennifer Tham<\/strong>, four young composers will be given the opportunity to go through a 6-month creative period of writing a new piece (2-3 min) for this edition’s ensemble in residence, the SYC (Singapore Youth Choir) Ensemble Singers.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The forum will consist of meet-the-musicians sessions, workshops, and regular consultation with the mentors. Participating young composers will write their own pieces for SYC, which will be premiered in a final concert at the Singapore Composers Festival<\/a> 2026, while also “shadowing” their four mentors, who will each also write a new piece that will premiere at the same concert.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through this programme, the young composers will be granted the opportunity to work with real musicians in a professional setting, while also getting to know the creative process of a professional composer on a deeper level. They will also gain the chance to workshop and premiere pieces that will serve as portfolio pieces as they move on to pursue further studies or professional work.<\/span><\/p>\n
