NGS Art + Live: Resonates With ft. Morse Percussion

30 Jan 2021 (Sa) Padang Atrium National Gallery Singapore (NGS) 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM Limited seating; Registration Required (Open 30 min prior to the events) Online broadcast at NGS’ Facebook page at 2:30 PM

Singaporean painter Georgette CHEN (1906-1993) grew up in, lived in and travelled three continents during her lifetime—she received her high school education in New York, attained formal art training in Paris at the Académie Colarossi and Académie Biloul, then eventually settled in Singapore to teach at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. With these diverse experiences, her art features familiar Southeast Asian subjects and yet is subtly inspired by her Western training.

By incorporating different styles of percussion instruments, Morse Percussion will be showcasing a repertoire that reflects the different parts of the world Georgette CHEN has lived in, and which have ultimately shaped her artistic practice.

Works performed include a new work by CSS Student Member KOH Cheng Jin called “Feast for Five” 《举杯畅欢》!

This programme is made possible thanks to a collaboration between NGS and CSS.
