Composing Monumentality
The Musical Compositions of Singapore’s Pioneer Composers
- This project is a collaboration with the Composers Society of Singapore to pay homage to pioneer composers. It chronicles the major accomplishments of pioneer composers after Singapore’s independence towards the building of a canon or standard repertory.
- We hope to raise awareness of their historical achievements for the younger generation of Singaporeans through public forums. The researchers will study the phenomenon of artistic and musical monumentality in our small nation-state.
- The project is supported by the National Arts Council (Singapore) SEP Grant 2021-2022.
