Composing Monumentality
This project, launched in 2022, pays homage to pioneer composers in Singapore’s history. Through a series of online lecture-seminars, Composing Monumentality chronicles the major accomplishments of pioneer composers after Singapore’s independence towards the building of a canon or standard repertory.
We hope to raise awareness of their historical achievements for the younger generation of Singaporeans through these public forums. Researchers will study the phenomenon of artistic and musical monumentality in our nation-state. Check out the YouTube playlist here, or read the essays below!
