We are pleased to share that CSS President Dr. Hoh Chung Shih was invited to speak on a panel discussion, The Sound of Now in Asia, delivering his address on Saturday, 25 October in South Korea. Speaking on the topic of Singapore new music, Dr. Hoh was part of a distinguished panel including composers Professor Hiroyuki Itoh from Nihon University, and Associate Professor Ting-Yi Ma from Taipei National University of the Arts.
<The Sound of Now: Trends in New Music> is a contemporary music forum that explores global currents in new music while examining the potential and future directions of music today. Through presentations, discussions, case sharings, and performances involving experts from Korea and abroad, the forum serves as a meaningful platform for in-depth dialogue on the present and future of contemporary music.
This event marks the first step in the “Tongyeong International Music Festival Scale-up” program, which will be carried out by the Tongyeong International Music Foundation from 2025 to 2027 as parts of the Korea Arts Management Service’s Genre-Based Market Hub Support Program.
We are excited to have been part of this year’s forum and look forward to continuing our advocacy, bringing Singapore new music and the works of our local composers to new audiences abroad.
