Project IDIOM: Chen Zhangyi

After their inaugural concert on Mar 2019, Project IDIOM is releasing profiles of Singaporean composers and composers in Singapore.

The sixth one CSS has chosen to highlight is an emerging young Singaporean composer Chen Zhangyi. Currently an assistant professor at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Chen Zhangyi has been slowly but surely creating waves, recently with the celebrated performance of his Singapore Trilogy on Oct 2018. This opera trilogy a triptych of chamber operas with distinct local themes of food (Laksa Cantata), shopping (Window Shopping) and dining in a kopitiam (Kopi for One).
