ABOUT THE EVENT

Explore distinctive music from four leading living composers.

Andrew Norman is one of America’s most exciting voices today. Commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Try combines rhythmic drive with bold, unusual instrumental sounds.

Toshio Hosokawa’s musical language combines Western avant-garde and traditional Japanese culture. Singing Garden examines the notion of beauty and timelessness.

Krzysztof Penderecki, arguably Poland’s greatest living composer, explores the entire sonic spectrum of string instruments in String Quartet No. 1.

Steve Reich, a pioneer of minimalist music in America, concludes with his Double Sextet, which features interlocking rhythms and hypnotic repetitions and won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize.
