CSS Student Member GU Wei’s Music Featured in New Album Launch

by | Mar 23, 2021 | News

CSS Student Member GU Wei, together with his composers’ collective CNSNC, just launched their debut album, Hearing Stars. The album was conceived as an interdisciplinary means of introducing people, primarily young audiences, to contemporary classical music and astronomy. CNSNC worked with the Bergamot Quartet and the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), to compose and produce a set of five original music videos detailing the life cycle of stars through five stages: 1) protostar, 2) star system, 3) supernova, 4) black hole, and 5) dark matter.

One of the new pieces was written by GU Wei for string quartet, Beyond the Horizon . This work depicts an imaginary journey into a supermassive black hole.
