Lirica Arts presents ‘Songs of our Forefathers III’!

Lirica Arts brings back its most popular concert series: “Songs of Our Forefathers” Part III in a genre-transcending programme of an eclectic fusion of classical art song and Chinese traditional opera.

The concert will present the performance of classical art songs in the style of traditional Chinese opera accompanied by Chinese traditional instruments and piano, with a world premiere of specially commissioned art song cycles sung in local dialects of Hokkien and Cantonese written in the local Chinese street opera style, including a work commissioned from Singapore composer and CSS Member Chua Jon Lin.

“Songs of Our Forefathers 3” boldly transcends the boundaries of art by integrating modern art songs, popular music with traditional Chinese opera. The collaboration between performers in classical vocal arts and Chinese traditional opera performing together in duets and other  ensemble work will bring kaleidoscopic musical insight into the charm of Chinese art and culture.
