The first open rehearsals for the 3rd edition of the Young Composers Forum took place on 7 January 2026. Rehearsals were led by Cultural Medallion recipient and SYC Ensemble Singers Artistic Director, Jennifer Tham at the Asian Civilisations Museum and was attended by the young composers, their mentors, and interested members of the music scene and general public. It was an exciting and fruitful session full of music and good cheer. We wait in anticipation to see how the pieces of our participating young composers develop in the coming months!

About the Young Composers Forum
The CSS Young Composers Forum is a mentorship programme for aspiring and emerging young composers. Participating young composers undergo a 6-month creative period consisting of meet-the-musicians sessions, workshops, and regular consultation with the mentors, each writing a piece for the edition’s ensemble-in-residence, which will be premiered in a final concert at the Singapore Composers Festival.
Through the programme, we hope to assist young composers in bridging the gap between theory and practice, granting them the opportunity to work with real musicians in a professional setting, while also getting to know the creative process of a professional composer mentor on a deeper level. They will also get to workshop and premiere pieces that will serve as portfolio pieces as they move on to pursue further studies or professional work.
