The 5th Brilliant Sounds of Five Colors · Waitongwu (Hangzhou, China) International Guzheng Music Creation & Composition Workshop
This edition, dedicated to exploring and discovering the Endless Possibilities of Chinese Guzheng Music, invites young composers worldwide to participate with no application fee and international travel grants!
Centered on Cross-Disciplinary Integration and Innovation, the workshop integrates Pop, Jazz, Indie, Funk, Rock, World Music, and Contemporary Music styles. We welcome submissions globally to collectively advance the creative evolution of original guzheng ensemble works!
Submission Categories
Original Cross-Genre Fusion Works
Category 1:
- Compositions for solo instrument/vocal solo/solo performance/solo dance with guzheng ensemble (2–6 players).
- Composers may collaborate with performers, vocalists, or dancers (accommodation provided; performance fees and travel expenses not covered).
Category 2:
- Guzheng ensemble works (2–6 players).
- Open to all styles, with emphasis on innovative approaches and diverse expressive techniques.
Submission Requirements
- Original compositions never publicly performed.
- One submission per composer.
- Duration: Under 8 minutes.
- Notation: Staff notation (PDF format).
- Optional: Audio demo
- Additional materials:
- Bilingual (Chinese/English) composer biography (200 words max).
- Photo and contact details.
Eligibility:
- Aged 35 or under
- Young composers worldwide (with no restrictions on nationality)
Key Details:
- Submission Deadline: June 15, 2025.
- Selected Composers: 8 Fellowship Awardees
- Mandatory Participation:
- Full attendance at rehearsals, lectures, and workshops in Waitongwu (Hangzhou, China), July 8–12, 2025.
- Composers must lead rehearsals and present their work for the July 12 Final Concert.
- Support:
- Domestic/International Composers: Accommodation, meals, and local transportation covered.
- International Travel Grant: USD 400 (approx. CNY 3,000).

征集作品类别
原创跨界融合作品
组别1–独奏乐器/人声独唱/表演/舞蹈与古筝重奏（二重至六重奏）作品。
作曲家可自行邀请演奏者、歌手、表演者或舞者（主办方提供食宿，但不包含演奏酬劳和交通费用）。
组别2–古筝二重奏至六重奏作品
风格不限，鼓励创新作品并展现古筝重奏的多元表现力。
投稿要求
原创作品， 不曾公开演出过; 每人仅允许投稿一件作品。
作品长度：8分钟以内
记谱方式：五线谱乐谱（PDF 格式）
音频建议：可附音频文件（非必需）
附加材料：200字以内的中英文作曲家简介，照片及联系方式
年龄要求：35岁以下
身份要求：全球青年作曲家（不限国籍）
重要信息
投稿截止日期：2025年6月15日
入选名额：8位作曲家
入选作曲家必须全程参与在外桐坞 （杭州，中国）7月8-12日的排练，讲座和工作坊，作曲家要负责排练自己作品并在七月12日为作品展演音乐会
入选作曲家到工作坊期间的交通，住宿和餐点将由主办方负责，也为国际入选作曲家提供国际旅费补贴：400美金 （3000人民币）
