Call for Works: Singapore International Violin Competition 2021

The next Singapore International Violin Competition (SIVC) will be held on 17 – 29 Jan 2021. Currently, they are calling for a work by a Singaporean composer.

This new commissioned work, which is sent to competitors two months before the competition, is performed during the semi-final round and challenges the interpretative skills of the competitors. It will receive a commission of SGD5000 and will be performed during the semi-final round in Singapore.

Requirements

  • A 5-6 min work for solo violin
  • Composer must be Singaporean

Please submit

  • A 200-word biography (in English) and recent photo of the composer
  • The PDF score of the piece, together with performance instructions and a 150-word programme note

Entries should be emailed to admin@singaporeviolincompetition.com with the subject “[Your Full Name] – Commissioned Work 2021″. You can submit more than one composition.

Deadline: 30 Apr 2020 (Th)

Past commissioned pieces include Emily Koh’s kilo<byte> for SIVC 2015 and Chen Zhangyi’s Clara-Luna for SIVC 2018. Will yours be next?
